Located on the slopes of Mount Corchia at 510 meters above sea level, a mountain known for its cave which extends inside for over 70 km, the village of Terrinca is surrounded by chestnut and beech woods and is crowned by Mount Alto, Sullioni, the Pania della Croce and Mount Corchia. Known as the oldest town in Versilia, given the testamentary writings dating back to around the year 766 AD of Tassilone the Lombard. Despite its transformation into a municipality in 1376, Terrinca saw alternating dominion from the Medici family, the French and subsequently the Luccas. Today it is a fraction of the municipality of Stazzema. Its church, dedicated to San Clemente and San Colombano, houses the painting of the Madonna del Carmelo, dating back to 1600.
Walking through the streets of the village the atmosphere of the past is palpable. You pass under arches, chestnut bridges and bricks that connect the houses, houses made of stone, slate, earth and mortar.
some glimpses of the village of Terrinca
The Puntato mountain pasture is part of the Terrinca territory, every town in the upper Versilia has a mountain pasture. Il Puntato is a regular destination for visitors as it is easy to reach on foot via Fociomboli; here stands the oratory of the SS. Trinità on the Alpe di Puntato.
It is definitely worth thinking about a visit to the ancient village of Terrinca. It must also be said that, despite the atmosphere of the past that reigns in the alleys and under the arches, in the town it is also possible to find a post office, an ATM and above all the "Le Tanacce" recreational club, which also has a small shop for small daily needs.
